1978 Topps Baseball #52 - Jim Lonborg


  • This was Jim Lonborg's final season as a regular starting pitcher. Jim made only one start in August and two starts in September.
  • 1978 Stats: 8-10, 5.23 ERA in 22 starts
  • 1978 Highlights:
    • May 10 - Allowed one run and pitched a complete game in Philadelphia's 3-1 win over the Houston Astros
    • Sept 4 - Earned his final career victory as the Phillies beat the St. Louis Cardinals 10-2. Jim allowed 2 runs in 5 1/3 innings.

    I always liked Jim Lonborg. I can remember thinking when the Phillies traded for him and Ken Brett before the 1973 season, "At last Steve Carlton will have some help on the pitching staff!"
