- Glenn Abbott was the #1 starter for the Seattle Mariners in 1978. He earned the win on opening day, but things got tough for him after that. Abbott missed almost a month of the season in April and May because of a strained hamstring muscle and also missed two weeks in June due to a sprained ankle.
