1978 Topps Baseball #37 - Rick Waits

• This is my favorite style of Cleveland Indians caps.
• .Rick Waits had his best season in 1978. Although Waits had more wins in 1979, most of his other stats were superior in 1978. Rick led the team in wins (13), complete games (15), and starts (33).
• 1978 Stats: 13-15, 3.20 ERA in 34 games (33 starts)
• 1978 Highlights: 
• May 2 - Made 142 pitches before being relieved in the 9th inning of Cleveland's 4-1 win over the Seattle Mariners. Rick got the win.
• Sept 5 - Pitched a complete game victory against the Toronto Blue Jays. Rick allowed two runs and five hits in the 6-2 Cleveland win.
• Oct 1 - Allowed two runs in a complete game 9-2 victory over the New York Yankees on the last day of the season. The Yankee loss (and Red Sox win) caused the AL East race to finish in a tie and forced a 1-game playoff.
