- After the 1977 season Jerry Morales was traded (with Steve Swisher and cash) to the St. Louis Cardinals for Hector Cruz and Dave Rader. Jerry was used as the Cardinals' starting right fielder for most of the season. Morales struggled in St. Louis and after the 1978 season he was traded to the Detroit Tigers.

- May 10 - Hit a 2-run home run to tie the game at 5-5 in the 5th inning. The Cardinals eventually beat the LA Dodgers 6-5.
